To start an application (Helper) when you open a particular type of file
- On the Edit menu, choose Options, or click the button on the tool bar.
- Click the Helpers tab.
- To specify which program (Helper) to start when you open a file of a new file type, click Add.
- To change the program (Helper) that starts when you open a file of an existing type, click the type, and then click Edit.
- Enter a description.
- Enter the MIME type.
- Enter the suffixes.
- Specify whether the file type is Binary or Text.
- In the Handling area, click Choose and select the application you would like to use to open this file type.
- On the How To Handle pull-down menu, choose Use A Helper Application .
- Enter the File Type.
Tips
- To have Microsoft Internet Explorer open the file type, on the How To Handle pull-down menu, choose Use Explorer As A Viewer. This options is available only if Microsoft Internet Explorer can handle the file type specified.
- To save the file to your hard disk and open it using a Helper, on the How To Handle pull-down menu, choose Save And Use A Helper.
- To save the file to your hard disk without opening it, on the How To Handle pull-down menu, choose Save As A File.

- To use your Internet Config Helper settings, select the Use Internet Config Settings check box.
